The Department of Art at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in New Media Art beginning August 16, 2024. The ideal candidate will have expertise in contemporary art discourse and theory, and familiarity with the histories and current practice of the broader field of new media art. Those may include, but are not limited to: sound, video, animation, VR, AI, coding, interactive media, web and computer-based work, or digital fabrication. We are looking for candidates that show potential for exceptional research and excellence in teaching, and who have an active exhibition record in their field. 

The Department of Art is committed to building an intellectually vibrant, inclusive, and academically diverse community of exceptional faculty that charts new territories and fosters experimentation, collaboration, and innovation across fields and disciplines. Knowledge of Adobe CC Suite is desirable. The teaching load is two courses each semester, and salary and benefits are highly competitive. Applicants must have received their MFA or PhD (earned by August 1, 2024).

To apply, please submit the following: a cover letter addressing qualifications for this position, a portfolio of creative work with a separate image list, a portfolio of student work with a separate image list, a curriculum vitae, an artist statement, a teaching statement, course evaluations (if available), and contact information of three references who can address your history of and potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service. We will ask for letters of recommendation electronically via Interfolio in the next phase of the search process.
