SUITE 106

Suite 106 was started in December 2001 by two dealers, Irena Popiashvili and Marisa Newman, as an unconventional art space devoted to video, photography, and other technology-inflected practices. It was initially housed in a ground-floor suite of the Milburn Hotel on West 76th Street in Manhattan. Later, the space moved to Mercer Street in Soho, and eventually relocated to West 22nd Street in Chelsea and changed its name to Newman Popiashvili Gallery in October 2005. The gallery was significantly affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and stopped its operations in 2013.
