The Friends of the National Gallery have been supporting the work of the National Gallery in Berlin since 1977. The socially highly relevant task of the non-profit association “Freunde der Nationalgalerie” (Friends of the National Gallery) is to support this large, six-house National Gallery. The aim of the Friends is to increase the scope for action of the National Gallery and its six houses in times of scarce public funds. The annual membership fees make a significant contribution to maintaining the Nationalgalerie as a lively, innovative institution that reflects on art production from the 19th century to the present in numerous exhibition projects and collection presentations and conveys it to a broad public.
