The Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA) is a research institute within the Faculty of Humanities at Leiden University, where it offers composers, performing artists, visual artists and (graphic) designers the opportunity to perform research in and through artistic practice. ACPA’s main aim is to bring art practices and academic disciplines together by creating a programme that does justice to both practice and academic discourse. As such, ACPA not only encourages the development of new art production, but also the development of a new academic understanding of art and its context. A PhD research training programme for visuals artists and designers is offered through PhDArts, a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and Leiden University.
