The Lentos Kunstmuseum is pleased to announce I love you :-) by Iris Andraschek.
The oeuvre of Austrian artist Iris Andraschek is shaped by her interest in motifs taken from the worlds of everyday culture and socio-political topics. The relationship between humanity and nature, alternative lifestyles, and questions about a fairer co-existence are recurring themes in her work. Communication is crucial for her research-based work. This is reflected in her projects, which focus on individual experiences.
For the artist’s first solo exhibition the Lentos Kunstmuseum pulls together works from the last 35 years. As a comprehensive selection, the show features drawings, photographs, and installations, some of which are expressly made for the occasion.
Iris Andraschek was born in Lower Austria’s Horn in 1963 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the Freskoschule Bozen. She has been awarded a number of prizes for her work, such as the Österreichischer Kunstpreis für bildende Kunst.
The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated 208 page catalog published by Verlag für moderne Kunst. With detailed text contributions in German and English by Philippe Batka, Katrin Bucher Trantow and Gabriele Mackert as well as texts on individual works.
Art and Literature—finissage with Esther Kinsky: September 11, 3–4pm
Iris Andraschek and the Berlin based German author Esther Kinsky will be present. The author has contributed a literary text to the installation HANGING WATER. The event will be a dialog between literature and visual art.
