Master of Education in Arts, two years, part-time, 60 ECTS
Research and experimentation in art and design education
The Master of Education in Arts is two-year part-time international research master. The relation between practice and theory is a central feature of the program: students test, design and experiment with pedagogical models and tactics, as much as critically research them. The program has an interdisciplinary focus, allows for experimentation, is taught in English and accepts students from the Netherlands and abroad (within the EU).
The program focuses on pivotal contemporary developments and issues in art/design education, including critical/feminist/queer pedagogy, education philosophy, critical making, interdisciplinarity, museum education and participatory/collective practices. This also involves engaging with pivotal topics that mark our current condition and influences the discourse about education like intersectionality, cultural diversity and sustainability/climate crisis.
The Master of Education in Arts welcomes enthusiastic and engaged educators/practitioners in the field of higher art/design education, as well as vocational, secondary education, museum educators and artists and designers with an interest in experimental participatory, pedagogical practices. We admit cultural practitioners working in institutional environments (schools, academies, museums), as well as outside, in more public, informal settings (workshops, labs, et cetera). In our opinion, in these kinds of collaborations and exchanges, the education of the future will take shape.
