13 video installations by Peruvian artists
February 26–March 24, 2019
Calle del Conde Duque, 11
28015 Madrid
Spain
As a parallel activity to ARCO 2019 in Madrid, where Peru is the guest country, Conde Duque Cultural Center is hosting the exhibition VIDEO-TRANSLATIONS: gazes x spaces, curated by José-Carlos Mariátegui and Jorge Villacorta. The exhibition features two generations of video artists from Peru whose works have shaped a new horizon out of the delocalized moving image, transforming it into a dynamic territory, connecting perceptions of geographical and social space as videography.
The exhibition provides a panorama of new media as a clue to Peruvian contemporary visual arts which are, so far, little known. The show will open at the Conde Duque Cultural Center, one of Madrid’s leading cultural institutions.
This exhibition comprises 13 video installations which will be on view in the impressive subterranean Vaulted Rooms of Conde Duque and will feature artists: Luz María Bedoya, Rudolph Castro, Miguel Cordero, Katherinne Fiedler, Arturo Kameya, Verónica Luyo / Álvaro Icaza, Diego Lama, Marco Pando, Juan Salas, Luis Soldevilla, Elizabeth Vásquez, Ricardo Yui and David Zink-Yi.
