The annual VERBO Performance Art Festival, created by Vermelho in 2005, is celebrating its 13th edition presenting 27 actions by artists from various countries. The selection of the projects—more than 200 projects were received through an open call from December 2016 through March 2017—was made by Thereza Farkas, director of programming of Galpão VB (headquarters of Videobrasil), by Carolina Mendonça, a theater and choreography director, and by Marcos Gallon, the artistic director of VERBO.
VERBO 2017 also includes a selection of videos, organized by Farkas, based on Videobrasil’s archives were she selected five works that dialogue directly with the content of the selected actions. This program will be presented in Galeria Vermelho’s projection room, Sala Antonio, with works by Alice Miceli, Rodrigo Cass, Luiz Roque, Akram Zaatari e Tiécoura N’Daou Mopti.
Mendonça and Gallon chose choreographer and dancer Clarissa Sacchelli for the first edition of Temporada de Dança Videobrasil—an interdisciplinary project seeking to approach dance, performance and visual arts based on research in Videobrasil’s extensive archives and videocollection. The result of Sacchelli’s research will be presented on July 6, 8, and 15, at Galpão VB as part of VERBO 2017.
