As one of the oldest art associations in Germany, Badischer Kunstverein celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2018. The anniversary programme, which starts with a grand ceremony on the date of the Kunstverein’s founding (May 1) includes a new foyer design, a festival space in the atrium titled Club 2.0.0, and joint projects developed by several invited Allianzen (Alliances) from the fields of art, theory and design. The Allianzen are developed in collaboration with (local) partners and are conceived in relation to the exhibition history, both formally and thematically. Working outside of traditional methods, we are taking an alternative perspective on the Kunstverein’s exhibition history. Our aim is a collective re-reading that brings together various active collaborators, capturing diverse voices and co-creating new narratives.
