Evonne Jiawei Yuan graduated from Fudan University, Shanghai with a BA in Museology (2013); the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London with an MA in History of Art (2015); and the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London with an MA in History and Critical Thinking (2016). She later held positions at Don Gallery (Shanghai) and Long March Space (Beijing). Yuan’s current research interests include architectural media in contemporary art, (post)modern spatial concepts, and border aesthetics and geopolitics. She curated Shanghai Dandy (2017) and Steadfastly Raise the Standards in Nonproductive Construction (2018). Her articles have appeared in Artforum China, Artsy, ArtChina, and LEAP among others.
