Mona Kriegler Read Bio Collapse
Mona Kriegler is the director of the Goethe-Institut in Palestine and responsible for the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 2017. As of January 2022, she will head the Goethe-Institut in Myanmar.
Kriegler studied at City and Goldsmiths universities in London and gained expertise in cultural policy and management as well as knowledge in cultural and postcolonial studies, contemporary art, visual cultures, aesthetics, critical theory, ethics and political philosophy. She has resumed her Ph.D. studies in Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought at the European Graduate School in 2021 with a focus on the ethics, aesthetics and politics of repair(ing). In her academic practice, research, work and writing she focuses on the interconnection of art and politics and artistic and cultural production in the context of conflict.
Between 2014 and 2016 she lived, worked, and researched in Beirut, Lebanon, where she taught about the politics of place and public space, art and human rights, and art and politics at St. Joseph University.
