Emily LaBarge is a Canadian writer living in London. She has written for Granta, the London Review of Books, Frieze, Tate Etc., 4Columns, and The Paris Review, among other publications. She is a regular contributor to Artforum and London correspondent for the Montreal-based quarterly esse arts + opinions. She has written essays for artist books, exhibitions, and monographs on the work of Carolee Schneemann, Nancy Holt, Prunella Clough, Megan Rooney, Camille Henrot, and others. She gives talks and lectures widely at a variety of institutions including Tate Modern, The Hayward Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, Salzburger Kunstverein, and Kestner Gessellschaft. LaBarge holds a PhD in Critical Writing in Art and Design from the Royal College of Art, where she currently teaches on the Writing program. She is working on a book about trauma and narrative.
