Diana Agrest is an architect, theoretician, author, educator and filmmaker internationally renowned for her unique , pioneering and influential approach to architecture and urbanism developed both in practice and theory and pedagogy. She founded in 1979 and is principal of Agrest and Gandelsonas Architects in New York, and develops her own individual projects as well. Diana Agrest has been involved in the design and building of projects ranging from urban design projects and master plans to sculpture parks, civic and residential buildings, exhibitions, single family houses and interiors globally since 1970 and which have received numerous awards. Diana Agrest is The Irwin S. Chain Distinguished Professor at The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture of The Cooper Union . She has taught at Princeton, Yale and Columbia and was a Fellow of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies. Her books include: Architecture of Nature| Nature of Architecture 2019; The Sex of Architecture, edit. Agrest, Conway, Weisman), 1996e; Agrest and Gandelsonas: Works, with Mario Gandelsonas,1995; Architecture from Without: Theoretical Framings for a Critical Practice,1991 and others. She has written, produced and directed the feature documentary film “The Making of an Avant-Garde: The Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies 1967-1984” which premiered at MoMA 2013.
