e-flux Index is a quarterly print publication that sets out to untangle the mess of the contemporary. Index is unique for its remit, bringing together art and film theory, philosophy, architecture, and criticism under the same mantle. It’s also unique in its scale: each issue is around 560 pages.
Each edition of the Index brings into dialogue commissioned essays, reviews, and articles drawn from the five separate e-flux sections: e-flux Architecture, e-flux Criticism, e-flux Education, e-flux Journal, and e-flux Notes. Each of these publications has its own editorial focus. e-flux journal explores long-form writing on contemporary art and theory, while Architecture develops thematic publishing projects in collaboration with leading institutions and practitioners. Education focuses on discussions around art and curatorial pedagogy, and Criticism and Notes pursue short-form, urgent reflections on art exhibitions, books, film, culture, and politics.
The printed edition of the Index is available to purchase via our website and from select art and design bookstores, as well as museums, throughout Canada, East Asia, Europe, North America, and the United Kingdom. The publication is distributed by Antenne Books (Europe and the UK), Les presses du réel (Europe), Asterism Books (USA), Art Metropole (Canada) The Book Society (East Asia), and Walther König Buchhandlung (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
Annual subscriptions are available for both institutions and individual readers, and digital pdfs can be purchased from our online shop.
