MACBA’s exhibition program is rooted the activities and projects developed by the museum. It reflects the museum’s interest in developing the knowledge of contemporary artistic production and the communication of this through different exhibition languages, such as Collection-based presentations, temporary exhibitions and the site-specific projects produced for the Chapel; and focusing on understanding what the recent past represents to the present and the future of the cultural construction of our society. Public Programs are central to MACBA’s activities, providing the basis for the conceptual development of its activities. Understanding the museum as a total operation, the public program is conceived as the root of MACBA’s research and the means through which these developing ideas are communicated. Some elements as the are key to its activity. Particular key strands include, Artistic Research, History of the exhibitions and The Mediterranean.
