The Mexican Art Gallery, founded in 1935 by Carolina Amor and Inés Amor, was the first gallery to be established in Mexico City. Since its inception, the gallery’s primary interest has been the promotion and sale of the works of Mexican artists and those from other closely linked countries, and its work has been central to the cultural and artistic life of the country. Known for exhibiting renown Mexican artists like Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Miguel Covarrubias, Rufino Tamayo, Frida Kahlo and Agustín Lazo, among many others, the gallery works closely with both emerging and established artists. By 2014, the Mexican Art Gallery had organized more than 1,500 national and international exhibitions, attended art fairs annually, and published numerous catalogs, monographs, and books. They also boast one of the most complete archives of modern and contemporary art in Mexico.
