Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage

Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage is an open educational center for the training of artists and professionals in the field of contemporary art; Education is an integral part of EAV Parque Lage’s program. As a cultural center, with a deep focus on expanding its community towards a critical learning process of the institution itself, this non-profit and public institution has historically worked with artists and engaged audiences, who are interested in posing challenging inquiries through radical pedagogies since the 1970s. Critical takes on the role of art institutions and on the standartization of education system for the arts play a key role from the holding of exhibitions and events; as a documentation center, comprising a library and its archive of historical documents about art and artists; and, nevertheless, as a school itself. As a national reference, with a consistent image in the arts system, EAV seeks to create internal mechanisms and external lines of action that allow a productive dialogue with the city and with the national and international art circuit.
