The Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin is the joint responsibility of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch (HfS) in cooperation with TanzRaumBerlin, a network of the professional dance scene.
The HZT Berlin offers three study courses the BA “Dance, Context, Choreography“, and the two master’s progammes “Choreography“ and “Solo/ Dance/Authorship“. It provides a practice led and research driven education in contemporary dance, choreography and performance. Close connection between academic education and professional artistic practice characterizes the courses which offer an experimental approach to study, combine practice-led artistic and research driven education, and practical career guidance. Nurturing individual artistic development, the contextualisation and critical reflexion of art and art practice are integral components of the curricula. Focus is placed on creatively and critically addressing what dance, performance and choreography are and can be as art forms, in today’s diverse social and cultural environments.
