The School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies is one of the largest and most exciting centres in the UK for aspiring cultural practitioners—artists, theorists, curators, historians of art—to hone their creative and critical skills and broaden their intellectual horizons.
We are an internationally recognised leader in research and research-led teaching in the history of art, art gallery and museum studies, cultural and media studies, and fine art. We offer a unique combination of programmes centred on the encounter between historical, cultural and theoretical analysis, museum and heritage studies and fine art practice. Each of our undergraduate degrees constitutes a particular pathway but also offer flexibility, allowing you to select from many optional modules. Our six taught postgraduate courses cover the fields of history of art, museum studies, cultural studies and fine art. The research focus of the School allows us to offer supervision expertise in a wide range of interdisciplinary fields, including world-wide art history, critical analysis and theoretical cultural studies, as well as fine art practice in all media.
