The Georgetown University Art Galleries encompass two distinct exhibition venues: The Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery (opened fall 2018), and the Lucille M. and Richard F.X. Spagnuolo Art Gallery, a newly renovated project space. Throughout the academic year, each gallery presents two exhibitions featuring works by acclaimed professional artists as well as one student and/or faculty show.
The opening of the Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery marked an exciting moment in the evolution of both the visual arts and innovative multidisciplinary programming on Georgetown’s campus. In tandem with the Lucille M. and Richard F. X. Spagnuolo Gallery, the de la Cruz Gallery is an intellectual and creative incubator for all of Georgetown University’s departments and initiatives. We intend to benefit diverse audiences on the Georgetown University campus, in our historic neighborhood, and across greater Washington, D.C.
By placing great art and socially-engaged artists at the center of critical conversations we aim to promote cross-cultural understanding and create opportunities for our audiences to not only look at art, but also to have meaningful and memorable experiences. We hope you will join us for unique exhibitions, performance art events, and public programs.
