The Slade School of Fine Art is an art school where staff and students approach contemporary art practice, and the history and theories that inform it through experimentation, imagination and research-oriented practice.
Located in central London, the Slade offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes all of which are taught by practicing artists. Inclusive art education is a high priority for the Slade, as well as developing new ways of working so that artists are sustainable and resilient. An experimental research-oriented approach is at the heart of our practice-based teaching environment, with each student - from BA/BFA through to PhD - conducting individual and original art research from day one.
For 150 years the School has been a leader in fine art education, fostering innovative, interdisciplinary artistic and research cultures. Our multiple histories have transformed art education, research, and practice, both in the past and present, nationally and internationally.
