With a donation of constructivist/concrete and gesturally abstract art in 1967, the art critic Albert Schulze Vellinghausen laid the foundation of the high-calibre art collection of the Ruhr University of Bochum (RUB), which today boasts works that impressively visualize the development trends in European and American art from 1945 right up to the present. The Campus Museum is a place of experimental curatorial practice, both for collections and for exhibitions, broadening art-historical scholarship and research and at the same time addressing a broad public with a programme of collection presentations, changing exhibitions, art events and education and community projects.
