HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme, Suomenlinna B 28/2,
FI-00190 Helsinki

Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP) initiates and supports new approaches in producing, understanding, studying and valuing art.
HIAP residency programmes provide opportunities for international art professionals to undertake creative work, conduct research, build networks and carry out special art projects in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
HIAP is one of the largest international residency centres in the Nordic and Baltic region. The programme focuses primarily on the Visual Arts and is open to artists, curators, theorists and practitioners from various disciplines. In close collaboration with a wide network of local and international partner organisations, HIAP residencies are offered also for professionals in other creative fields, such as Dance, Theatre, Literature and Music. The activities at HIAP are organized through curated thematic projects, residency exchanges, and open calls, which highlight a certain geographical area or concentrate on a specific contemporary topic or an aspect of artistic practice.
Every year approximately 150 art professionals from around the world are offered a working period of one to three months in the HIAP residency studios in Helsinki. Art professionals based in Finland have an opportunity to work abroad via projects and exchange programmes maintained by HIAP with its international partners.
