The independent and non-profit foundation Schering Stiftung aims to promote science and art. It is both an operating and grant-making foundation.
In arts and culture, the foundation focuses on the contemporary fine and visual arts including dance and music. In its Project Space in Berlin-Mitte, it presents shows by international contemporary artists who develop their projects specifically for this exhibition space. Every two years, the Schering Stiftung Art Award, given in cooperation with KW Institute for Contemporary Art, honors international artists who are seen as the most important newcomers in the fine and visual arts.
In science, the focus is on the life and natural sciences. The Schering Stiftung especially supports basic research projects in the fields of biology, medicine or chemistry as well as the dialogue between science and society.
One of the foundation’s key concerns is to promote the interdisciplinary dialogue, especially between art and science.
