Tate Liverpool welcomes over 700,000 visitors a year and as such is the most visited modern and contemporary art gallery in England, outside of London. Tate’s aim is to be the most artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive global art museum. We champion visual art and its value to society.
Displayed in bright, spacious galleries are a selection of works from Tate’s collection as well as art on loan from major international museums to create landmark, special exhibitions. Tate Liverpool programmes a wide variety of events including talks, workshops and academic conferences.
Housed within the largest complex of Grade-1 buildings in the country, Tate Liverpool is steeped in more than 170 years of maritime history. Situated at the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, the vibrant heart of the UNESCO designated World Heritage, our building was converted into the gallery we inhabit today by Sir James Stirling, one of the 20th century’s most significant and influential architects.
