Ever faithful to its conviction that art is constantly being fertilized and enriched by what lies beyond its apparent borders, this summer Palais de Tokyo explores the relationships between art and science through two main group exhibitions, Dioramas and The Dream of Forms. Four monographic exhibitions or site-specific installations complete this programme.
Dioramas
At the crossroads of art, history and science, the exhibition explores the diorama as an unexpected source of inspiration for contemporary artists. It is the first large survey to recontextualize the diorama with a renewed approach to the history of spectactorship, including the influence of science and technology, popular culture, fun fairs and exhibitions. Inviting to step into the hidden mechanisms of a diorama, the exhibition dismantles its strategies of illusionism and allows the viewer to build a critical approach on the power of representation.

The Dream of Forms
Art, science, etc.
How do artists and scientists currently arrive at original visual solutions, which help to reinvent the geometry of thought, outside familiar territories? The exhibition brings together contemporary artists and scientists around the way they are now rethinking their relationship with the living world, and raising questions about the forms that inanimate or living matter can take, from the scale of the infinitely small to the infinitely big.
