Università Iuav di Venezia (IUAV) is pleased to announce the launch of its English-language Master of Arts (MA) in Curatorship of Architecture and Design.
This one-year intensive programme aims to train professionals capable of developing curatorial projects with a solid foundation in theory and critical thinking while developing knowledge in the strategies of exhibition making. The goal of the course is to stimulate innovative curatorial approaches with the aim of generating new ways of thinking and understanding our built and natural environments.
Taking advantage of its location, Università Iuav di Venezia will offer participants a unique opportunity to be immersed in a multicultural and discursive context, specifically during the international exhibition at the Venice Biennale and the Triennale di Milano. The program will be enriched with direct on-site involvement at these events.
The programme will consist of three study modules, an internship placement, and a final curatorial project (as a thesis). Students will be involved in interdisciplinary seminars and lectures related to contemporary curatorial practice. Seminars and lecture series will be conducted by a number of leading curators in the European community alongside cultural practitioners, including designers and architects, and a select group of Professors and educators based in Università Iuav di Venezia.
The programme is seeking applicants from a broad spectrum. Participants with backgrounds in architecture, history, art, anthropology, visual and communication studies, and other related disciplines will discover the multifaceted approach of contemporary curatorial practice (of architecture and design) in the cross-disciplinary and international atmosphere of Venice.
