Collezione Maramotti is glad to announce the new exhibitions Mamma Mia! by Emma Hart and Love by Luisa Rabbia, opening to the public on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
Emma Hart won the sixth edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery. Fruit of the artist’s residency between Milan, Todi and Faenza, Mamma Mia! presents a family of large ceramic heads/lamps in dialogue with each other, made in collaboration with Faenza artisans. The large-scale installation—which shows some interesting variations compared to the London’s exhibition at the Whitechapel—is the result of research into visual patterns and psycho-physical relations within family dynamics and incorporates engrams and original motifs inspired by the Italian tradition of maiolica on sculpture surfaces. Central to Hart’s project is the physical manifestation of emotions which in the relation between artwork and spectator becomes transferred.
Luisa Rabbia’s exhibition, Love, features a corpus of ten artworks realized between 2009 and 2017, all acquired by the Collezione Maramotti, which has been following the artist’s research for several years. Her show includes works on paper and on canvas—representing a significant transition in the artist’s work from drawing to painting—an artist’s book, and an important site-specific work realized directly on the walls of the Collezione during Rabbia’s residence. The title of the exhibition is taken from a large painting exhibited here for the first time, which is a part of the trilogy Love-Birth-Death, her latest major project.
