Submitted by: Shawna Vesco and Anne Wheeler
This exhibition troubles the glamorization of the all-women factions of freedom fighters battling ISIS in Iraq and Syria, by examining feminism within the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party).
apexart’s International Franchise Program is an annual open call for small, focused, idea-driven group exhibitions to be presented anywhere in the world except New York City. Winning proposals will be presented as part of apexart’s upcoming 2016-17 exhibition program in the cities noted.
