Submission deadline: January 23, 2017, 5pm
Submissions for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2017 are currently open, closing 5pm (GMT), January 23, 2017.
Following the success of Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016 at Bluecoat, Liverpool as part of the Liverpool Biennial, and ICA, London, submissions for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2017 are now being accepted.
Applications are welcome from final year undergraduates and current postgraduates studying Fine Art at UK art colleges, as well as those who graduated in 2016.
We are pleased to announce Yuri Pattison, Elizabeth Price and George Shaw as this year’s selectors. Following two rigorous selection rounds, participants will be announced in early summer 2017 with the resulting national touring exhibition opening at Baltc and Baltic 39, Newcastle in the autumn.
New Contemporaries continues to be the leading and longest-running touring open submission exhibition, showcasing some of the most dynamic and engaging work emerging from UK art schools. Since 1949 it has provided a professional platform beyond the context of art school, allowing for new artists’ work to become visible and discussed, often for the first time.
Previous New Contemporaries include Tacita Dean, Mona Hatoum, Damien Hirst, David Hockney and Mike Nelson as well as more recent emerging artists including Ed Atkins, Rachel Maclean, Nathaniel Mellors, Haroon Mirza and Laure Prouvost.
To apply, please visit our website for the full submissions guidelines and eligibility criteria. You can also follow New Contemporaries on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for further announcements.
New Contemporaries is a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) and Registered Charity.
New Contemporaries is also supported by members of its Supporters’ Club.
