Friends with Books: Art Book Fair Berlin 2015 takes place December 11–13, 2015 at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin as Europe’s premier event for contemporary artists’ books and periodicals by artists and art publishers. Featuring 145+ international participants and a series of programmes: discussions, readings, presentations, performances, and artworks that explore the perimeters of today’s art publishing. Admission is free.
Are You…Friends with Books? public programmes series features Defne Ayas and Willem de Rooij (Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art); Dominikus Müller and Susanne von Falkenhausen (frieze d/e); Gundi Feyrer (Edition Patrick Frey); Black Palm; Supercommunity: Julieta Aranda, Susanne von Falkenhausen, Ana Texeira Pinto, Matteo Pasquinelli, Anton Vidokle (e-flux journal); Ingrid Chu and Slavs and Tatars (Asia Art Archive); Lisa Marei Schmidt and Daniela Bystron (Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin); Dr. Michael Lailach and Céline Duval (Kunstbibliothek Berlin), and others.

Artists whose work emanates from the book exhibit their artworks and present performances as part of I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library: Susanne Bürner, Anita Di Bianco, Natalie Czech, Dominique Hurth, Ines Lechleitner, Joachim Schmid, Erik Steinbrecher, Jonathan Monk and Elisabeth Tonnard.

Friends with Books is a non-profit organisation founded in 2014 offering greater visibility to contemporary artists’ books and art publications, including an annual art book fair, public programming, and partnerships with art organisations and institutions, facilitating the engagement of diverse audiences with the book works of artists and publishers worldwide.
