Contemporary art centre KRONE COURONNE is pleased to announce its 2025 exhibition program. Founded in 2021, KRONE COURONNE is a contemporary art centre in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, run under the direction of curators Kristina Grigorjeva and Camille Regli. It is dedicated to collaboration and critical dialogue between artists and cultural practitioners with a focus on the local art scene.

January 24–March 1
Frontroom: Bass my trespass—Julia Znoj
Julia Znoj poetically examines, combines, transforms, and narrates materials. Interweaving script narration with metallurgical processes, her work navigates the tension between intuitive truth and empirical fact. Her exhibition unfolds as a laboratory of perpetual experimentation and reimagining where materials need fiction to exist.

Backroom: SOMA—Raven Chacon
Raven Chacon is a composer, performer and visual artist, born in Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation, in the United States. His work lies at the crossroads of sound art and music composition. Here Chacon presents Gauge–a sound work based on field recordings of the shifting ice, wildlife, and modern tools in the overwhelmingly harsh environment of the Canadian Arctic.

March 14–April 26
Frontroom: Consuelo—Guadalupe Ruiz
Guadalupe Ruiz’s exhibition captures memories of her house and deals with themes such as home as a setting, photography as a measure of time, and embroidery as both a motif and a means of transmission. The artist–of Colombian origin–activates these themes through practical workshops, blending the connections between craft practices and knowledge transmission.

Backroom: SOMA—Tobias Maria Koch
Tobias Koch is a Basel and Torino-based composer and sound artist working across performance, visual arts, film, and music. Tobias Koch’s site-specific performances articulate the varying unseen auditory connections between space and sound, bringing a musical focus to the physical environment in which the performance takes place.

July 4–August 23
Frontroom: Prix Anderfuhren 2024—Leolie Greet
Every two years since 1976, the Anderfuhren Foundation supports emerging artists from the region. In 2024, the prize was awarded to Leolie Greet, who was offered a solo exhibition at KRONE COURONNE. Through objects and spatial mise-en-scène, Leolie Greet constructs poetic narratives based on visual and linguistic associations.

Backroom: SOMA—Soraya Lutangu Bonaventure
Soraya Lutangu Bonaventure is a performance, sound, and video maker whose practice materializes the fugitive points of friction between ecstasy and mourning, stillness and haunting. In addressing the degrees of legibility suspended in our gazes, the diasporic imaginary, and the complexities of representation, SLB builds expressive systems of repair that speculate on the poetic notions of singularity.

September 5–October 18
Frontroom: This chapter begins twice—Ève Gabriel Chabanon
Brussels-based artist Ève Gabriel Chabanon has developed a hybrid practice that questions the relationship to work and collective, political, and economic constructions through collages of elements blending texts, films, ceramics, and sculptural objects. With this exhibition, the artist weaves together their research about noise and translation through proliferating networks of mycelial cords.

Backroom: SOMA—Yen Chun Lin
Yen Chun Lin is a Taiwan-born artist who lives and works in Berlin. With the company of a dragonfly whom Yen met through collective dreaming, they explore silence, darkness, dust, whispers, vulnerability, and love together. Their curiosities are materialized in the form of installations involving sculptural soundscapes, performances, collaborations, and stories.

October 31–December 13
Frontroom: Rebecca Solari x Madison Bycroft
While Mads Bycroft’s work resists identification in favour of a form of illegibility, Biel-based artist Rebecca Solari explores identity through the prism of self-representation, gender and class alongside a fond desire to break codes. Working across performance, text, music and installation, Solari’s practice often ends up in an explosive spectacle.

Backroom: SOMA—LABOUR
LABOUR is the collaborative project of Farahnaz Hatam and Colin Hacklander, whose compositions and performances centre on the transformative potential of sound. Together, LABOUR compose ambitious and reverently experimental audioworks. Their practice promotes active listening and heightened sensory awareness.
