At the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the Professorship of Moving Image (W2) is announced until March 20, 2025 with the aim of appointment as of September 1, 2026.
As the holder of the Chair of Moving Image in the study programme “European Media Studies” (BA / MA), you will teach the basics of working with digital video/audio in the Bachelor’s programme and the basics of media design in the Master’s programme, and you will be responsible for complex media projects in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. Besides “classical” forms such as documentary and essay, new forms of experimental media design are also part of your responsibilities, in order to guide the implementation of ideas by experimenting with audiovisual techniques and processes. For this, research with and in the moving image on socio-political, technological, forensic, and ecological topics is particularly important. Your expertise in video art and installation is explicitly desired.

The professorship is part of the co-operative study programme ‘European Media Studies’ is run jointly with the University of Potsdam and is based at the Institute for Arts and Media at the University of Potsdam, as well as at the Design Department at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. The programme teaches both media theories and experimental aesthetic methods. Against this background, we expect you to have a special interest in the relationship between practice and theory based on corresponding evidence, as well as the competence and willingness to work interdisciplinary and project-oriented with students from the Bachelor and Master programmes in order to carry out experimental, aesthetically oriented research projects.
You can look forward to working with a highly collaborative team and students keen to work on projects. The international orientation of the degree programme will be continued and intensified. You are invited to actively contribute your international expertise.
