Contemporary Art, Digital Innovation and Creative Diversity
March 21–23, 2025
SPARK Art Fair Vienna: Contemporary Art, Digital Innovation and Creative Diversity—solo presentations from artists representing 90 galleries, from five different continents, to be featured.
In March 2024, the third SPARK Art Fair Vienna enjoyed great success, with a total of 20,000 visitors and with some stands having already sold out on the opening day. This year’s international fair for contemporary art in Vienna’s Marx Halle promises to be another exciting weekend: From March 21–23, 2025, 90 galleries from five different continents will present works selected exclusively for SPARK. The artists’ works will be on show in the customary manner as solo presentations. The fair offers a global spectrum of contemporary art, ranging from painting and photography to innovative and interactive mixed-media exhibitions.
This year’s fair is all about the interplay between tradition and the future, artists and the public, and people and technology. Artistic directors Jan Gustav Fiedler and Walter Seidl together with the curatorial advisors Marina Fokidis and Christoph Doswald are looking to provide a stage for both up-and-coming talents and established artists: “Our democratic exhibition layout, with equal stand space for everyone, not only promotes equal opportunities, but also gives visitors the opportunity to engage more deeply with the works on display.”
Digital innovation and interactive experiences
SPARK Art Fair Vienna 2025 will explore new perspectives by seamlessly combining art and technology. The Smartphone Orchestra, a project that transforms smartphones into a unified musical instrument, will provide a collective experience.
Participants will be invited to use their devices to become a part of this impressive work of sound art. This project shows how technology, which is often perceived as isolating, can bring people together through creative interaction.
Performances and talks in the Globe Theatre
Another highlight in addition to the exhibition areas is the program on offer in the adjacent Globe Theatre. During the exhibition days, live performances such as a lecture performance by Slavs and Tatars, video art and discussion panels will be staged here. Artists, curators and art experts from all over the world will debate topical issues in contemporary art, such as the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in the art world.
All talks at the Globe Theatre are free of charge, enabling a much wider audience to enjoy these lively debates and presentations. This not only encourages the candid exchange of views, but also helps to overcome barriers to accessing contemporary art. It’s a great opportunity to engage with the perspectives of leading experts and become part of a vibrant, creative community.
The theatre will also serve as a backdrop for performances which blur the boundaries between analogue and digital art. The audience will be able to play an active role in performative art with an onstage cinema screen and immersive production.
