Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University: Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Painting.

The Department of Art & Design at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Painting at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2025.

Our Painting curriculum nurtures formal fluency with conceptual literacy in an environment that invites experimentation and critical thinking. We seek a faculty member who brings enthusiasm, expertise, vision and engagement to our area, and department at large. 

Candidates should be professionally active with a nationally significant record and at least three years experience of college teaching They will be able to thrive in an interdisciplinary environment with curiosity and collegiality, bring experience and deep commitment to supporting the needs of a diverse student body, and show potential for academic leadership. They will have a broad understanding of art practice and theory, and welcome the opportunity to develop cross- and interdisciplinary curricula within a large, diverse, public research university. We strongly encourage applications from artists whose creative practice or research engages historically marginalized forms of knowledge or underrepresented groups.

Qualifications 
–MFA in Art or equivalent
–National and/or international profile as a practicing artist
–Minimum of three years experience teaching Painting and related practices at university level
–Knowledge of contemporary art theory, criticism and art history

Salary: Appropriate to rank and qualifications.
