Annually, at the end of November, Amsterdam Art Weekend and RijksakademieOPEN mark the most important events for contemporary art in the Dutch capital. For one long weekend the city is transformed into an international hotspot for art lovers and professionals alike.

Amsterdam Art Weekend presents an extensive program of over 100 exhibitions, performances, screenings and conversations, in which more than 50 of Amsterdam’s leading art venues showcase the newest developments in contemporary art. Visitors will be the first to witness tomorrow’s artistic talent unfold.
Alongside the carefully curated public program an extensive Professionals program gives national and international art professionals numerous chances to make new discoveries, and extend their network.
Participants include more than 50 galleries and project spaces, as well as, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, EYE, Foam, Manifesta, Prince Claus Fund Gallery, Oude Kerk, De Ateliers, If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution and International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA).

RijksakademieOPEN 2016
During RijksakademieOPEN, all 45 emerging (inter)national artists of the Rijksakademie (the renowned residency program) will open their studios and present the results of their research, experimentation and innovation. Visitors are given the opportunity to discover trends and developments in the visual arts and get to know artists whose work they will later encounter in prominent collections, exhibitions and biennials worldwide. In Amsterdam at RijksakademieOPEN, they get an exclusive preview.
