For the 168th time the Charlottenborg Foundation invites everyone to apply to the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition is one of the most important open-submission exhibitions in Northern Europe and has been held annually since 1857.
Open call
To participate in the 2025 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition artists can apply digitally from November 11–December 22, 2024.
Everyone above the age 18 can apply with up to five works or a series within, but not limited to, the categories art, architecture, craft/design, cross-disciplinary projects and text. The Charlottenborg Foundation and the year’s jury encourages people to also apply with:
–Collections: apply with your personal collection of e.g. objects, pictures, digital files, etc.
–Performance: in 2025 there will be a stage at the Spring Exhibition. Apply to performe with your performance, dance, text or music.
–Non-realised projects: apply with sketches, documentation and models from non-realised works and projects.
–The Charlottenborg Foundation and the year’s jury encourages unions, groups, collectives and organisations to apply.
A jury consisting of the scandinavian artist collective coyote will evaluate the submissions. The jury will announce their decision around January 13, 2025. coyote will also be curating the installation of the exhibition. The works must be handed in for hanging on 28 of January 2025. Each participating artist or artist group will receive 2.500 DKK for showing in the 2025 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition.

Location and exhibition period
The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition will take place at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, Denmark, one of the largest spaces for contemporary art in Northern Europe. The 2025 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition will be on show February 5–March 9, 2025.
Awards
For the Spring Exhibition 2025 the Charlottenborg Foundation will award an artist or artist group with the Solo Award in collaboration with Politikens Forhal. The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition’s solo award recognises overall artistic quality and relevance, and is granted in collaboration with Ida Schyum, Head of Exhibitions at Politikens Forhal. The Solo Award is accompanied by a DKK 10.000 cash prize, mentoring meetings, fundraising assistance and an invitation to a solo exhibition at Politikens Forhal.
About the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition
During its long history, the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition has been the first significant step for many young artists on the path to a professional career. Many artists who today are internationally recognised debuted or presented works at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition throughout its history.

The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition is organised by the Charlottenborg Foundation and its board, consisting of artist Ann Sophie von Bülow, artist Julie Falk, architect Mathias Mentze, designer Nina Nørgaard, artist Morten Knudsen and artist Skjold Rambow.
