gdm (Galerie du Monde) celebrates 50 years (1974–2024). The gallery’s Chairman and Founder Fred Scholle is pleased to announce the opening of a second space in Taipei, launching at the end of the year.
Located in the heart of Neihu, gdm Taipei will be situated at 390 Ruiguang Road, occupying the first two levels of the Kuo Mei Rui Guang Center. The new gallery is designed by gdm’s longtime partner AB Concept and executed by Chuan Sheng Interior Co.
With its opening, gdm Taipei will launch Siōng Tshinn, a special program that focuses on spotlighting emerging local talent. Siōng Tshinn is a Taiwanese Hokkien term that embodies freshness, growth, and untapped potential. This program aims to provide a platform for young, unrepresented Taiwanese artists to showcase their works. Through Siōng Tshinn, gdm hopes to plant meaningful and lasting roots in the local art community.
Founded in 1974, gdm has been acclaimed for its ground-breaking work in championing artists of postwar and contemporary movements. Currently, the gallery represents more than twenty artists and is dedicated to supporting emerging and underrepresented diaspora artists engaging with cultural identity and conceptual practices. gdm is driven to provide opportunities for artists to amplify their voices within their communities, and across platforms in the international contemporary art world.
