Application deadline: September 20, 2016
The Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Republic of Poland and Zachęta – National Gallery of Art announce a competition for the curatorial project for the exhibition in the Polish Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale (May 13–November 26, 2017).
Poland, having its own pavilion, has participated in this prestigious event since 1932. In recent years in the Polish Pavilion, such artists as Monika Sosnowska, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Yael Bartana and Konrad Smoleński have shown their projects. In 1999 Katarzyna Kozyra’s Men’s Bathhouse video installation received Special Mention from the Biennale’s Jury.
The exhibitions in the pavilion have been organized for years by Zachęta – National Gallery of Art with the financial support from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage or Republic of Poland. The pavilion commissioner position is held by the Gallery’s Director, currently Hanna Wróblewska. The winning project is selected by an independent jury of art professionals appointed by the Minister.
