Architecture
In Berkeley’s NAAB-accredited professional Master of Architecture program, renowned for its history of design excellence, you’ll approach the design of the built environment as an instrument of change.
In Berkeley’s post-professional, two-semester Master of Advanced Architectural Design (MAAD) studio-based program, you’ll explore how wood processes, structures, and assembly systems can support a reciprocal relationship between forest management and building design.
Berkeley’s Master of Science in Architecture is an academic, nonprofessional degree program that offers you the opportunity to engage in advanced research in Building Science, Technology, and Sustainability or History, Theory, and Society.
In Berkeley’s PhD in Architecture, you’ll work with world-renowned faculty while engaging in individually developed interdisciplinary coursework and supervised independent study, with a concentration in either Building Science, Technology, and Sustainability (BSTS) or History, Theory, and Society (HTS).

Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning
Berkeley’s Master of Landscape Architecture integrates design excellence and innovation with ecological integrity and social justice, empowering you to think critically about the performance of landscape spaces and systems through the lenses of environmental justice, cultural meaning, and visual form.
The PhD in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning emphasizes the processes of planning and design as they relate to solving problems in the natural and urban environments, preparing you for careers in research, teaching, professional consultation, or specialized roles in government.

City & Regional Planning
Berkeley’s Master of City Planning is a two-year nationally accredited STEM degree program that empowers you to successfully practice planning in a variety of urban, metropolitan, and regional settings. Berkeley’s MCP is distinguished by its focus on the human impacts of planning decisions, with particular attention to equity, diversity, and social justice.

Urban & Regional Development
In Berkeley’s Master of Urban Design—the only degree program of its kind in California—you’ll engage diverse communities to imagine the cities of the future. The twelve-month post-professional program is centered on researching and designing alternative forms of urbanism for a range of real-world conditions, from dense post-industrial cities in the inner Bay Area to small towns on the rural/urban periphery.

Berkeley’s interdisciplinary Abbey Master of Real Estate Development + Design goes beyond the fundamentals—finance, law and entitlements, construction, economics and market analysis—to place special focus on design, sustainability and resilience, and equity and inclusion. The STEM-certified program is offered both as a one-year full-time program and a two-year part-time program.
