A platform for moving image
Loop Barcelona, the annual event devoted to artists’ films, stages during November in a City Festival (13–23), a Professional Fair (19–21) and a Symposium (20–21). Loop serves as a vibrant hub for moving image enthusiats where artists, gallerists, curators, collectors, scholars, and distributors can connect. With a dynamic setup tailored to address the needs of each group, Loop fosters meaningful collaborations across the field.
This year´s Loop Fair will showcase 37 films presented by their galleries, which have been selected by a committee of collectors, chaired by Jean-Conrad Lemaître and including Isabelle Lemaître, Haro Cumbusyan, Renée Drake, and Josée and Marc Gensollen.
Loop reaffirms its commitment to the moving image presenting a diverse array of works that demonstrate video and film’s versatility as both a creative and critical tool. This year’s presentations explore themes that bridging symbolic and natural worlds, the essence of time through memory and archives, and revisiting political struggles and conflicts.

Expanding in a hybrid format, from November 19 to 26, all the videos sellected will be simultaneously accessible for streaming on the LOOP Virtual platform, providing the general public with an immersive experience and the opportunity to engage more deeply with the work. Early access for guests and professionals will commence on November 6 through previous accreditation
Loop Symposium: titled “Images that Move Us Forward. Commissioning, Producing, Exhibiting and Collecting Artists’ Cinema” is a two-day symposium led by Filipa Ramos that will bring together artists, collectors, commissioners, curators, gallerists, programmers, producers, distributors and scholars to discuss important matters that concern Artists’ Cinema today and tomorrow.
November 20: Commissioning Artists’ Cinema (Moderator: Filipa Ramos with Guilherme Blanc, Hoor Al-Qasimi, Tarini Malik); and Producing Artists’ Cinema (Moderator: Filipa Ramos with Gabriel Abrantes, Hilde Teerlinck, Leonardo Bigazzi, Anna Lena Vaney).
November 21: Exhibiting Artists’ Cinema (Moderator: Sabel Gavaldon with Paolo Moretti, Lisa Long, Julian Ross, Andrea Lissoni) and Collecting Artists’ Cinema (Moderator: Elvira Dyangani Ose with Sinazo Chiya, Vassilis Oikonomopoulos, Julia Paoli, Haro Cumbusyan, Chus Martínez).
Loop Festival (November 13–23) offers a program that includes exhibitions, screenings, and various activities in museum, institutions and other city spaces. It features a main curated section and, simultaneously, City Screen, a program that takes place in art galleries and independent spaces, involving artists, organizations, and professionals from both the local and international scenes. Highlights of this year are: the opening exhibition on November 13 at the Museu de la Música presenting the works by Yarema Malashchuk and Roman Khimei as part of a collaboration with Barcelona-based research platform einaidea, which also includes a film presentation by Metahaven at Hangar, and a round table with John Menick and Blanca Pujals at CASA SEAT; The Myth of the Trinity II a performance by Thomias Radin in collaboration with Institut del Teatre and Esther Schipper, the premier of Paraules d’amor by Núria Güell at Fabra & Coats, or Comment ça va? a film programme curated by Pascale Cassagnau (CNAP) presenting Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat by Johan Grimonprez, and a program curated by Joseph del Pesco (Kadist Foundation) at Fundació Enric Miralles.
Loop Barcelona is also delighted to announce a unique collaboration with renowned watchmaker F.P. JOURNE and the PHILLIPS global art platform—an alliance inspired by MAZE.
