Content
What can artists do with games? How can game-based thinking inform and challenge our different artistic approaches? In the course Individual Project Work I—Games and Artistic Practices (VSIND1), we will investigate the overlap between art and games and explore tools and mental frameworks originating in the knowledge field of games. We will examine their potential applications and (mis)use in transdisciplinary practices.
The course is open to students with a wide range of artistic expressions who are interested in exploring their practice in relation to different forms of game, play and world building. No previous experience with game making is necessary. The course will support students in developing their own individual project, while encouraging collaborations.
The course is based on online presentations, seminars, and supervision in combination with on-site/hybrid intensive workshops. This year the teaching team comprises of Ewa Einhorn, Carina Erdmann, Karolin Meunier and Cathryn Klasto. The course has an optional “meet up” IRL aspects in Berlin, Germany (9-13 June, exact dates TBA). For more information see the course advance page here.
