How to write postdoctoral applications: February 10, 9:30am–12pm CET
Half-day online briefing session covers different aspects of applying for postdoctoral positions and grants for artistic researchers: project-specific positions and own-proposal based funding (e.g., Marie Curie.) Introducing 2025 summer course on contemporary art and politics: February 17, 6–7pm CET
One hour online briefing session describing the content, format and application process for online course, an associated initiative of CAPIm. surveying issues at the intersection of art and politics. What do you mean it is just “imaginary”?: February 25–26
Two day workshop with Dr. Kerry Guinan and Michele Masucci explores the “imaginary” and imagination in the context of artistic practice and research. Open to KKH and HDK-Valand students who apply locally through their home institution.

How to write doctoral proposals: March 3, 5–7pm CET
This two hour online introductory workshop covers the basics of doctoral research proposal writing, where artistic practice forms the susbtantial core of the research. Participation free. Booking required: Email contact [​at​] capim.se, message header “Doctoral Proposal Workshop”

Studio Practice: On the Performance of Research: April 7–10
Short course facilitated by Valentina Desideri proposing a critical and creative approach to lecture-performance as a format to convey and expose artistic research. How do performative techniques and methods affect and shape the conveyed research? And the other way around, how do specific research questions or practices call forth and require their own performative approach? Open to KKH and HDK-Valand students who apply locally through their home institution.

Open lecture: Mapping research on the political imaginary: May 7, 4–5:30pm CET
Open online public presentation introducing a major two-year project exploring the role of the terms “imagine” “imaginary” and “political imaginary” in artistic research, contemporary art and across a range of social science and humanistic disciplines. Presented by members of the project team (which includes Dr. Nick Aikens, Dr. Kerry Guinan, Michele Masucci and Prof. Mick Wilson). Participation free. Researching imaginaries intensive live-stream: May 19–23 10am–12pm CET
During this five day intensive workshop we will live-stream guest presentations by invited artists and researchers who address different asepcts of artistic research and questions of the imaginary. For a Justice-to-Come: June 7–16, Marseille
This summer school will be held in and around Marseille, France will explore a disinitigrating consensus concerning the notion of justice through close readings of Jacques Derrida and Walter Benjamin, and through practice-based workshops including a walking trip in Walter Benjamin’s footsteps across the border to Spain. Open to KKH and HDK-Valand students and international artistic researchers from the local partners Triangle-Astérides, Artagon, and 3 bis f.

About the centre
The Centre for Art and the Political Imaginary is committed to interdisciplinary practice and research in the meeting between contemporary art and the future of politics. Based at two institutions of higher education in art: HDK-Valand and The Royal Institute of Art, the Centre’s aim is to facilitate connections between research and education through an engagement with experimental approaches. It is the first Swedish Centre of Excellence in the field of Artistic Research. The Centre is co-chaired by Prof. Mick Wilson and Prof. Natasha Marie Llorens, who together with Prof. Jyoti Mistry and Dr. Axel Andersson form its steering committee.

CAPIm annual research symposium: 
Gothenburg, August 28–29 
Bringing together associated researchers and guests to explore pertinent issues related to the center’s research strands. Keynotes: María Galindo  and Stefan Jonsson.
