OFFSCREEN Paris returns this year to the Grand Garage Haussmann for its third edition from October 16 to 20, 2024.

Dedicated to image-based work, OFFSCREEN is composed of solo show presentations of international avant-garde, historical and contemporary artists, working with installations and experimental practices.

Under the supervision of Artistic Director Julien Frydman, OFFSCREEN maintains its unique position as both artistic curation and commercial event with its cohesive presentations by international and French galleries. Supported by Lombard Odier and the House of Dior, and widely lauded by visitors, professionals and collectors, it is a must see highlight of Paris Art Week in October.

Chantal Akerman, guest of honor (Presented by Marian Goodman Gallery (New York, Paris, Los Angeles).

“I would like the viewer to have a physical experience through the time used in each shot. To have this physical experience that time unfolds in you, that time enters you.” —Chantal Akerman

Following Anthony McCall in 2022 and Rosa Barba in 2023, OFFSCREEN celebrates Chantal Akerman this year as the guest of honor. The major Belgian director and pioneer of modern cinema, who passed away in 2015, is represented by Marian Goodman Gallery, which is participating in OFFSCREEN for the first time.

The installation will complement the simultaneous exhibition at the Jeu de Paume this autumn, Chantal Akerman—Travelling.

Grand Garage Haussmann
The former garage with an emblematic Art Deco facade and spiral ramp in the heart of the 8th arrondissement will once again host the immersive walk-through over the eight floors of the extraordinary brutalist building with large, frosted glass windows. Léonie Alma Mason (LA.M Studio) will once again produce the scenography in the unique architectural installation. It will be the final opportunity to visit this architectural landmark before it closes for renovation.

OFFSCREEN was co-founded by Julien Frydman and Jean-Daniel Compain in 2022.
