Everything can happen differently. A game involving a blend of objects, ideas, images, sounds and flavours leads to mayhem, multiplying the relations between reality and the imagination. The outcome is a succession of specific scenes in which the real time of the narrative and that of its display come together.
Jordi Colomer (Barcelona, 1962) addresses the scenographic dimension of his first sculpture-objects in which he was already exploring the materiality of fiction. When he took this same interest out onto the street, certain tools and working strategies started to recur: mobility, provisionality, the popular imaginary, utopian illusions, humour and collaboration. The result is a fabulation that becomes political by asserting that we can discuss communal life even as it is being imagined and pursued.
The exhibition is not structured chronologically in order to emphasise its organic character, in which various places, narratives, materials and characters overlap. The various projects co-exist in an environment in which simultaneity, fragility and the diverse routes are heightened in a kind of mise-en-scène typical of fairs and other makeshift edifices. Just as the monument contains within it its own ruin, the temporary harbours and renews the potential that must shake our ways of life.
Exhibition curated by Martí Peran.
