After the positive outcome of the first experience in 2023, the Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition residency—an initiative by MAMbo—Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna—returns for the second consecutive year, for which the Comune di Bologna and the Città Metropolitana di Bologna renew their commitment to support the project of artistic residencies spread across the six Cultural Districts of the metropolitan area.
The residency program of Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition 2024 gives six artists, selected through a public call, the opportunity to develop individual and shared artistic projects while interacting with the territory in which they are hosted, for a period of time of three months, running from April 29 to July 28, 2024.
The six winning artists were selected by a Commission chaired by the Director of MAMbo and composed of expert members from within the museum staff.
The selected artists and the places where they will be in residence are:
Gianlorenzo Nardi (Giulianova, Teramo, 1995)—Distretto culturale Savena-Idice: Loiano, Inaf-Oas Stazione Astronomica
Marco Mandorlini (Pontedera, Pisa, 1998)—Distretto culturale Pianura Est: San Marino di Bentivoglio, Istituzione Villa Smeraldi—Museo della Civiltà Contadina
Andrea Di Lorenzo (Varese, 1994)—Distretto culturale Montagna: Grizzana Morandi, Fienili del Campiaro
Adele Dipasquale (Turin, 1994)—Distretto culturale Imolese: Imola, Casa Quadrilumi
Gaetano Palermo (Catania, 1998)—Distretto culturale Pianura Ovest: Sant’Agata Bolognese, Studio di decorazione di Nives Storci
Letizia Lucchetti (Ancona, 1999)—Distretto culturale Reno Lavino Samoggia: Madonna di Rodiano, Valsamoggia, Casa Vallarmà
During the residency period, the artists will be involved in in-depth studies dedicated to their individual research, in an extensive relational activity consisting of studio visits, conversations, open studios, public reports on the completed projects, as well as a public program of workshops and lectures.
Once again characterizing this new edition will be the creation of a self-learning program, conceived by the artists in order to collectively share new practices, knowledge and desires. Entrusted to the theoretical know-how of the artists, it aims at an embodied version of self-formation, rooted in an experiential learning capable of fostering both a profound knowledge and the flowering of emotional proximity.
The network of Cultural Districts will play an active role in building opportunities for exchange and connection with the territory.
Nuovo Forno del Pane Outdoor Edition 2024 is curated by Lorenzo Balbi, Caterina Molteni, Sabrina Samorì and coordinated by Giulia Pezzoli.
