FEMSA Biennial celebrates three decades of existence with the exhibition 30 Years in the Art World. A Revision of the Bienal FEMSA. The exhibition features more than 80 works by 54 artists at the Museo de Arte e Historia of Guanajuato, in the city of León. In the context of the commemoration of its three decades of existence this retrospective exhibition, curated by Daniel Garza Usabiaga, aims to offer an analysis of the Biennial’s evolution over the years, consolidating itself as a benchmark both nationally and regionally. It also provides the opportunity to appreciate different transformations in the artistic production carried out in Mexico since the 1990s.
“It is a fascinating exhibition due to the multiple formats, from painting, sculpture, photography, video, ceramic pieces, and textiles, as well as pieces made with objects, three-dimensional ones, and with a more architectural scope. It will be very interesting to see winning pieces from the first editions - for some it has already been more than 30 years - and realize how current and contemporary they are,” said Garza Usabiaga.
As an introduction to the next 15th edition of the FEMSA Biennial The Voice of The Mountain, scheduled to take place from May to August of this year in the cities of León and Guanajuato, 30 Years in the Art World. A Revision of the Bienal FEMSA allows to explore the relevance of the FEMSA Biennial in the contemporary artistic field, underlining its dynamic evolution.
