Gasworks is proud to announce its programme for 2024, coinciding with the celebration of its 30th anniversary and the appointment of new director, Robert Leckie. The programme includes exhibitions by Anna Perach, Rahima Gambo and Riar Rizaldi, as well as ongoing residency and participation projects.
Exhibitions
Anna Perach: Holes
February 1–April 28, 2024
The first UK institutional solo exhibition by Gasworks studio holder Anna Perach. Taking inspiration from historical instances where the female body is viewed as something that transgresses the rules of morality and nature, the artist explores ideas of identity, gender, and craft. Employing a distinctive visual vocabulary, Anna works with an intricate tufting technique to create surreal wearable sculptures that will be activated in a new two-part performance, taking place at selected times during the exhibition.
Supported by Catherine Petitgas, Gasworks Exhibitions Supporters and the Anna Perach Exhibition Circle.
Rahima Gambo: Alternative Central Area Locations
June 13–September 8, 2024
A new commission by Rahima Gambo examines her relationship to Abuja, Nigeria, through a form of intuitive cartography. Rahima takes the records of Nigeria’s planned capital city as malleable sites and symbolic material from which to drift into past impressions, slip into her present migrant life, and offer a filter from which to consider possible futures. Through film, sculpture and installation, the artist speculates on the decision-making processes, the omissions, variations and unforeseen needs that the city plan evokes.

Riar Rizaldi
October 4–December 22, 2024
A moving-image commission by Indonesian artist and filmmaker Riar Rizaldi. Following a residency at Gasworks, Riar will develop a new work based on a dialogue between contemporary particle physics and ideas about the nature of God in tropical Sufi mysticism, a movement that thrived in philosophical spheres across the Indo-Malay Archipelago in the 15th century.
Supported by Prue MacLeod, Catherine Petitgas and Gasworks Exhibitions Supporters.
