November 17, 2023–January 14, 2024
When—and how—are you “touched” by a sound, a movement, a texture, a sight, a taste or a smell in a space of “visual” arts?
Feels Like… ProtoZone13* hosts artists who are re-valuing affective qualities and sensory perceptions in their work, refusing to be “read” in a specific way. Their practices invite us to acknowledge the simultaneity of sensing-thinking as a non-binary entanglement in processes of “making sense” or “feeling like”. In such ways, ProtoZone13 opens up to the complexities and contradictions of aesthetic experience.
This December and January, ProtoZone13 temporarily turns into a proper school of lovers with the premiere of the project “Schule der Liebenden”:
Video artist and somatic sex coach melanie bonajo presents a sex education film 2.0 with the ensemble of the inclusive theatre group Theater HORA. Scenographer Carolin Gieszner is turning the core of Shedhalle into a classroom where learning is pleasurable. The HORA performers are bringing the teaching bodies of this school to life in their show, together with directors Yanna Rüger and Daniel Cremer.
Don’t miss the live shows and the full experience of ProtoZone13 with contributions by “Schule der Liebenden”, James Bantone, Shu Lea Cheang, Steph Holl-Trieu, Deborah-Joyce Holman, Anchi Lin (Ciwas Tahos), The Institute for Embodied Creative Practices (Isabel Lewis et al.), Chris Paxton et al.
ProtoZone13 invites you into a realm of collective learning: to negotiate proximity, emotions, sensuality and solidarity within the shared ecologies of the exhibition space and beyond.
