The final deadline to apply to the Digital Arts four-year program is fast approaching: January 26, 2024, 12pm CET for October 2024 entry.
Based at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Digital Arts Department is an open platform, and a safe-enough space for radical experiments with and beyond contemporary digital media in an artistic context. The Digital Arts program is free of charge. No prior formal education necessary!
The four-year study program is run as a Diploma program (equivalent to an integrated BA/MFA) and classes are held in German and English. No German proficiency required for admissions. We specifically encourage students from far abroad and beyond as well as students with disabilities / neurodivergence. We offer assistance through our international office and our inhouse student counselor. Applications from groups & collectives are welcome.
What we like to see in a portfolio: digital and RL concepts, sketches & works in progress; documentations, social media accounts, sound, code art, photoshop frenzy, NFTs, Pixel- & ASCII Art, interactive media, 3D/AR/VR ideas, conceptual AI & outputs, as well as any other media. Please write a brief about your experiences, experiments, and your personal approaches, struggles and obsessions, your idols, scenes & media, including a short CV and a photo of you.
The department offers customizable spaces, state-of-the-art technical equipment, passionate people, and inclusive access to new worlds & realities.
Teaching staff include Anika Meier, Chicks on Speed (Mel), Christiane Paul, Julian Hessenthaler, Kevin Abosch, Michelle Kasprzak, Sarah Grant, and Tracey Rose.
The artist collective UBERMORGEN head the Digital Arts program, they are a synthesis of neurodiversity with autistic actionist lizvlx & pragmatic hyperactive-visionary Luzius Bernhard. They are net.art pioneers, media hackers, online actionists & digital haute couturiers, infamous for their polarizing social experiments & radical research.
